Urinetown the Musical
Synopsis
Urinetown is set in a dystopian society where the citizens of an undisclosed city have faced a 20 year drought. To help regulate water consumption (and amass a fortune), Urine Good Company, led by Caldwell B. Cladwell, has removed private restrooms and created public amenities, where people now have to pay a fee to pee. If the citizens cannot pay and pee anywhere other than the amenity, Officer Lockstock and Officer Barrel send them to “Urinetown”. After Cladwell hikes the fees, amenity worker Bobby Strong leads the poor in a rebellion to fight for their right to pee for free. Much to Bobby’s surprise, he has fallen in love with Cladwell’s daughter Hope, who must now decide whether or not to stand with her father, or follow her heart to fight with Bobby and the poor.
